description The treatment of breast cancer diagnosed during pregnancy presents a challenging situation for the patient, family, and caregivers. Case series have demonstrated the efficacy and safety of using anthracycline-based chemotherapy during the second and third trimesters. Additionally, patients should be seen, evaluated, and treated in a multidisciplinary setting with facilitated communication among the medical oncologist, surgical oncologist, obstetrician, radiation oncologist, pathologist, and radiologist. This review details the available data regarding the diagnosis and management of the pregnant breast cancer patient.
