Sumario: | The crystal structure of the title compound, C(17)H(15)BrO(3), a chalcone derivative, exhibits two crystallographically independent molecules per asymmetric unit showing an E conformation about the ethylene double bond. In each molecule, the two phenyl rings are almost coplanar: the mean planes make dihedral angles of 9.3 (2) and 19.4 (2)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked through weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. |
