The asymmetric unit consists of one Ni(2+) cation, which is located on a center of inversion, as well as one thio­cyanate anion, one 3-acetyl­pyridine ligand and one methanol mol­ecule in general positions. The discrete complexes are linked by two pairs of O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the hy­droxy H atom and the acetyl O atom into chains along the b axis.
