Sumario:The title compound, {[Mn(C(22)H(15)NO(6))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O]·H(2)O}(n), was obtained under solvothermal conditions. The Mn(2+) cation exhibits a distorted penta­gonal–bipyramidal MnN(2)O(5) coordination sphere with the water O atom and one of the phenanthroline N atoms in the axial positions. The cation is bridged by the doubly deprotonated 4,4′-[(4-carb­­oxy­benz­yl)nitrilo]­dibenzoate ligand, generating a polymeric chain parallel to [100]. O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding, as well as π–π inter­actions between neighbouring phenanthroline ligands, with centroid–centroid distances of 3.695 (1) Å, lead to the construction of a three-dimensional network.
