In the title molecule, C(10)H(11)NO(5), the methyl C atom deviates by 0.830 (6) Å from the mean plane of the remaining non-H atoms. In the crystal, weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into layers parallel to the bc plane.
