Sumario:In the title compound, C(20)H(17)NO(3) (alternative name: N-hydroxy-9,10-dimethyl-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarboximide), the rigid ethanoanthracene-dicarboximide moiety has a roof-shaped geometry, the interplanar angle between the two terminal phenyl rings being 124.9 (6)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [010]. C—H⋯O and C—H⋯π interactions link adjacent chains, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional structure.
