12B. Integrative Medicine in the Treatment of Patients with Asthma

Focus Areas: Integrative Approaches to Care, Pediatrics This session is devoted to integrative approaches to asthma care that are suitable for the primary care practitioner. Evidence-based and experience-based therapies will be discussed, as well as presumptive biological mechanisms. In addition, we will explore the ideal patient population for these modalities, as well as appropriate means of introducing such therapies into a patient's existing regimen. Consideration will be given to mind-body approaches, botanicals, supplements, and dietary interventions and their applicability to patients of varying asthma severity. Finally, clinical pearls for the practitioner will be provided.
