description Focus Areas: Integrative Approaches to Care, Supporting Behavioral Change, Alleviating Pain Outcome data compiled and analyzed for patients taking a 4-session class in an integrative healthcare setting. Course content includes (1) education on chronic pain; (2) experiential learning of mindfulness practices related to breath, body scan, difficult emotions, and catastrophic thinking; (3) managing behavioral pacing and planning for breakout pain; (4) research-based holistic lifestyle and complementary healthcare options; and (5) the process of change. Attempts will be made to gather data upon completion of class, 3 months, and 6 months, looking at changes in pain experience and/or lifestyle due to material learned intellectually versus experientially.
