The diversity of endothelial cells: a challenge for therapeutic angiogenesis

Vascular endothelia comprise a diverse population of cells that specialize in response to genetic programs and environmental cues to take on distinct roles in different vessels, tissues, and organs, and in response to pathophysiological stresses. Sumario:Vascular endothelia comprise a diverse population of cells that specialize in response to genetic programs and environmental cues to take on distinct roles in different vessels, tissues, and organs, and in response to pathophysiological stresses. Characterization of endothelial-cell diversity will facilitate the development of novel, highly specific and safe therapies for many diseases.
