In the title compound, C(8)H(11)NO(2)S, the aldehyde group is approximately coplanar with the thiophene ring [maximum deviation = 0.023 (2) Å]. In the crystal, molecules are linked by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into supramolecular chains propagating along the a-axis direction.
