description | PURPOSE: Hyperlipidemia is a disorder which is identified as a potential risk factor for multitudes of diseases like cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome and even hypertension. Hyperlipidemia is term used to denote raised serum levels of cholesterol or triglycerides or both. Though, there is no precise terminology for Hyperlipidemia mentioned in the Ayurvedic classics, A detailed study of Hyperlipidemia reveals its similarity to Asthayi Medo Dhatu Vriddhi on the basis of its Pathophysiology. METHOD: For Group A Moorchita Tila Taila 15ml twice daily as Shamana Sneha with Ushna jala for 30 days. For Group B Navaka Guggulu in Tablet form 500mg, 1 tab thrice daily for 30 days. RESULT: Both the groups A and B showed reduction in serum Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, LDL–C and VLDL–C and Group A showed slight increase in HDL levels. CONCLUSION: Shamananga snehapana can be safely carried out in patients of Hyperlipidemia. Comparing both the groups, Group A treated with Moorchita Tila Taila Shamana Sneha showed better results in reducing serum lipid values than Group B treated with Navaka Guggulu |
