Sumario: | Waiting times for elective care are a major health policy issue in many developed countries. Recent empirical studies suggest that inequalities in waiting times by socioeconomic status are present within publicly-funded systems in several countries. In this short commentary I discuss alternative approaches regarding data, methods and interpretation of results. Further work in this research area is needed. |
