BACKGROUND: Primary hyperparathyroidism is one of the most common causes of hypercalcemia. Inherited forms of primary hyperparathyroidism like Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1, Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2a, Hyperparathyroidism-Jaw Tumor Syndrome or isolated familial tumors are not common...

description BACKGROUND: Primary hyperparathyroidism is one of the most common causes of hypercalcemia. Inherited forms of primary hyperparathyroidism like Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1, Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2a, Hyperparathyroidism-Jaw Tumor Syndrome or isolated familial tumors are not common for our population. RESULTS: We present a case of primary hyperparathyroidism in a 38-year-old Turkish man with hyperaldosteronism (Conn’s syndrome). CONCLUSION: Genetic studies could not reveal any mutation. We could not identify any inherit form of the diseases. We wanted the first-line relatives examination of the suspected gene mutation, but they refused. ELECTRONIC SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIAL: The online version of this article (doi:10.1186/s13104-015-1271-0) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.
