description Community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has had a significant impact on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected and incarcerated individuals. We examined electronic medical surveillance data from 2006 to 2011 and observed that even in a population of currently or recently incarcerated individuals, HIV status was a significant risk factor for MRSA infections and Hispanic ethnicity was protective.
