Sumario:INTRODUCTION: Infection poses a substantial challenge after joint replacement. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a 53-year-old female with multiple co-morbidities, who underwent unilateral total knee arthroplasty. Her postoperative course was complicated by acute cholecystitis necessitating cholecystectomy. CONCLUSION: In patients who require joint replacement surgery, careful and detailed preoperative assessment is important to identify those at risk for this complication in order to provide timely treatment.
