description A man taking antithrombotic agents was admitted because of melena. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a large, pedunculated polyp bleeding from erosions on its top. The polyp was endoscopically resected, and histopathologically diagnosed as Brunner’s gland hyperplasia. It is commonly encountered as a small, raised lesion, but may enlarge or bleed. We report this case, with a review of the Japanese literature and discussion of the mechanism of bleeding.
