description There are many possible methods of histopathological audit. Most are expensive of both time and finance. We present an outline of one which is relatively cheap and is based on a meeting that has taken place in Bristol for many years. An analysis of the material reviewed in one year at these meetings indicates that they encompass a wide range of pathology. Furthermore it is possible to get some quantitative indication of the type of lesions that most frequently pose diagnostic problems, and which are thought to be potentially soluble by the opinion of other general histopathologists. The contribution of this type of meeting to histopathological audit is considered.
