Propylthiouracil-induced liver failure and artificial liver support systems: a case report and review of the literature

BACKGROUND: Antithyroid drugs carry a potential risk of hepatotoxicity. Propylthiouracil (PTU) is commonly prescribed for patients with hyperthyroidism.
