Novel methicillin resistance gene mecD in clinical Macrococcus caseolyticus strains from bovine and canine sources

Methicillin-resistant Macrococcus caseolyticus strains from bovine and canine origins were found to carry a novel mecD gene conferring resistance to all classes of β-lactams including anti-MRSA cephalosporins.
