Sumario:Patient-reported outcomes (PRO) are critical to understand the spectrum of disease in chronic conditions but are often ignored in clinical practice. Cirrhosis, one of the leading causes of morbidity, is associated with severely impaired PROs likely due to covert hepatic encephalopathy (CHE). The clinical relevance and logistic barriers to routine CHE testing led us to develop the “EncephalApp Stroop App”, which is now being used to diagnose CHE. The Primer discusses this example which can potentially be applied to other diseases.
