Sumario:In their recent paper, Malhotra et al. performed a comprehensive analysis of the structural variation breakpoints in 64 cancer genomes from 7 tumor types to find the prevalence and origins of complex genomic rearrangements.(1) Since this work represents a breakthrough in understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying complex cancer genome rearrangements, we provide a brief overview of this outstanding study.
