A compressed octahedral cobalt(II) complex in the crystal structure of diaqua[6,6′-sulfanediylbis(2,2′-bipyridine)]cobalt(II) dinitrate
The asymmetric unit of the title salt, [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2), comprises a [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cation and two NO(3) (−) anions. In the complex, [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cation, the tetradentate 6,6′-sulfanediylbis(2,2′-bipyridine) ligand coordinates to...

Sumario: | The asymmetric unit of the title salt, [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2), comprises a [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cation and two NO(3) (−) anions. In the complex, [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cation, the tetradentate 6,6′-sulfanediylbis(2,2′-bipyridine) ligand coordinates to the Co(II) cation in the equatorial positions, while two water molecules occupy the axial positions, forming a compressed octahedral CoN(4)O(2) coordination sphere. The NO(3) (−) anions are linked to the [Co(C(20)H(14)N(4)S)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cations via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, yielding a layered arrangement parallel to (001). |
