description INTRODUCTION: We present a rarely seen case of cerebral infarction due to intracranial dolichoectasia coexisting with spontaneous dissection of the basilar artery. A definition of dolichoectasia, its pathology, and imaging findings, as well as the clinical management and prognosis are briefly reviewed. CONCLUSION: We discuss in general terms the diagnosis of basilar artery dissection and its probable relationship with the occurrence of dolichoectasia.
