description | The title dinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu(2)(C(18)H(16)Br(2)N(2)O(4)S(2))(2)] was prepared by direct synthesis of a dianionic Schiff base derived from 5-bromosalicylaldehyde and cysteamine. The discrete molecules lie across inversion centers and crystallize with two dimethylformamide (DMF) molecules of crystallization. The unique Cu(II) ion is four-coordinated by two tetradentate Schiff base ligands in a distorted square-planar N(2)O(2) environment. In the crystal, short intermolecular S⋯Br contacts, weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and intra- and intermolecular π–π stacking interactions between rings of the ligand link the components into a two-dimensional network parallel to (010). |
