description | Lebanon is a Middle Eastern country experiencing a surge in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus among adults. This pilot study evaluated the feasibility and outcomes of implementing the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice Guidelines (EBNPGs) as part of medical care for patients newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Seventy-five patients were recruited from 3 Lebanese hospitals, received nutrition care according to EBNPGs, and were followed up for 12 months. Patients achieved significant improvement in clinical outcomes between baseline and 3, 6, and 12 months. Further research is recommended to confirm the benefits of using EBNPGs. |
