description BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Evidence-based practice (EBP) guides to increase quality of tendance, and recourse to the administration of the newest powerful research into clinical practice. Thus, it is substantial for dentists as well as all healthcare providers to notify clinical decision-making and apply EBP. Aims: The objective of this study was to investigate awareness, knowledge, attitude and barriers in relation to evidence-based practice (EBP) among dentists in bushehr. METHODS: An overall of 250 copies of the questionnaire consisted of 16 multiple-choice questions were given out to dentists in bushehr early 2016 and response rate was 87%. RESULTS: Knowledge and attitude of dentists were found to be low. 72% of the dentists represented a positive attitude toward EBP, although because of heavy workload they cannot be up to date with new research materials. Not having access, time availability and being unable to understand statistical terms were the top barriers of using EBP. CONCLUSION: Although dentists represented a positive attitude toward EBP, it is essential to increase their knowledge and skills. The findings of this research can be used to remodel the common educational strategies and to increase the quality of EBP implementation.
