Sumario:The interferon response protects cells from invading viral pathogens by transcriptionally inducing the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), some of which encode effectors with varied antiviral functions. As screening technologies improve and mouse model development quickens, more ISGs are continually being identified, characterized mechanistically, and evaluated for protective roles in vivo. This review highlights selected recent findings of ISG effectors that contribute to our understanding of the interferon antiviral response.
