Regioselective synthesis of pyridines by redox alkylation of pyridine N-oxides with malonates

ABSTRACT: A regioselective synthesis of pyridines by the addition of malonate anions to pyridine N-oxide derivatives, which have been activated by trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride, is reported.
