Biomedical Applications: An Intravascular Magnetic Catheter Enables the Retrieval of Nanoagents from the Bloodstream (Adv. Sci. 9/2018)

The clinical adoption of magnetic nanoparticles for targeted therapy is often hampered by safety and long‐term fate issues. In article number https://doi.org/10.1002/advs.201800807, Veronica Iacovacci, Edoardo Sinibaldi, and co‐workers present an intravascular catheter able to efficiently retrieve m...

Sumario:The clinical adoption of magnetic nanoparticles for targeted therapy is often hampered by safety and long‐term fate issues. In article number https://doi.org/10.1002/advs.201800807, Veronica Iacovacci, Edoardo Sinibaldi, and co‐workers present an intravascular catheter able to efficiently retrieve magnetic nanocarriers from the bloodstream not contributing to therapy, thus mitigating possible side effects. Capture efficiency can reach ≈94% without producing significant hemorheological alterations. [Image: see text]
