Sumario: | Choline is a natural substrate for phospholipid synthesis. F-18 labeled fluorocholine nowadays is routinely used for imaging brain tumors, parathyroid adenoma, and prostate cancer. It is synthesized through nucleophilic substitution reaction using dibromomethane and N, N-dimethylaminoethanol as primary and secondary precursors, respectively. However, sometimes, failures are encountered in F-18 fluorocholine production. Few problems and troubleshooting during synthesis are discussed here. |
