Immunohistochemical characterization of myofibroblasts appearing in isoproterenol-induced rat myocardial fibrosis

Fibrotic lesion is formed by myofibroblasts capable of producing collagens. The myofibroblasts are characterized by immunoexpressions of vimentin, desmin and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in varying degrees.
