description Green building rating system has been used by many countries around the globe to certify the green buildings. However, little evidence has confirmed that stakeholders understand the theory and practical implementation of green building rating system, particularly in Indonesia. Thus, the paper aims to evaluate stakeholders knowledge of green buildings, and to propose recommendation for green building direction for the government. The result shows most of the professionals in this sector prefer considering environmental issues as the primary concern in developing the new building over social and economic aspects of sustainability. Despite their awareness of this concept, limited experience from building owner and rewards are the two main barriers to the steady progress of professionals taking certification of green building. This study also shows that the government and green building council of the country needs to evaluate the method to promote the use of green building concept and to encourage professionals taking the certification.
