Sumario:Sepsis is a life-threatening syndrome of a dysregulated host response to infection. Despite advances in diagnosis and treatment, sepsis remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Many aspects of the diagnosis and clinical management of sepsis require further study and remain controversial. This review aims to summarize relevant literature and controversies regarding the evaluation and management of sepsis and septic shock.
