description | This article provides a theoretical and empirical insight on the study of population aging in India, with the special reference to the causes that have made it extremely significant. It evidently looks into the factors that are extensively associated with the process of population aging and have contributed to the Indian society. Demographically speaking, in the Indian context, the process of demographic transition has resulted from a falling birth rate, a slowing death rate, and spike in life expectancy. In the context of developing countries, the concept of population aging has been brought from developed countries. Initially, the outcomes of demographic transition had been experienced by developed regions followed by the rest of the world. Finally, it examines the consequences of complications that arise due to growth in life expectancy at birth, and further suggests the probable remedies to both strategy developers and policy-makers. |
