description INTRODUCTION: Herbal medicines have less side effects in comparison with traditional medicines, but side effects occur and are safer to use than conventional medications. Herbal medicines have two special characteristics that distinguish them from chemical drugs; use of crude herbs and prolonged usage. AIM: Evaluation of the efficacy of neem and turmeric in wound healing in orthodontic extraction sockets. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 45 extraction sites were divided in 3 group of 15 each where apart from group left as control, remaining groups recieved Neem and turmeric extyracts respectively. the healing of extraction socket was assessed and compared with the control group. RESULTS: Delayed wound healing was fouond in the control group as compared to the group recieving Herbal extracts. CONCLUSION: Herbal extract therapy should be administered in extraction sockets though a larger sample size may reveal more comprehensive picture.
