Sumario: | The soda ash industry is a part of the chemical industry, which is responsible for the production of sodium carbonate, calcium chloride, absorbent masses, evaporated wet salt, food salt, pickling salt or salt tablets. During manufacturing of those products, strongly alkaline wastewater is generated. It could be characterised by a high electrolytic conductivity and concentration of ions: chlorides, sulfates, phosphates, calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium and ammonium. The aim of the research was to test the effectiveness of removing sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and ammonium from wastewater after production of soda ash by three sorbents: Halosorb, Compakt and Damsorb K. The process was carried out using dynamic method with different flow of wastewater through the column with sorbent. It allowed to reduce concentrations of all cations tested. Moreover, it was found that sorbent type did not significantly affect the removal of any of the ions, but the deposit load had significant impact on the removal of all ions tested. |
