Sumario:Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are commonly experienced in primary care. Although most ARIs are viral in nature and resolve without treatment, nurse practitioners and other clinicians prescribe antibiotics for them 40% to 50% of the time. Thus, the purpose of this article is to review current evidence-based recommendations about the diagnosis and management of ARIs in adults.
