Dieckol, a SARS-CoV 3CL(pro) inhibitor, isolated from the edible brown algae Ecklonia cava

Phlorotannins have been isolated and are the first of their type showing competitively inhibitory activity toward SARS-CoV 3CLpro. Dieckol showed the most potent SARS-CoV 3CLpro trans/cis-cleavage inhibitory effects with high association rate. [Figure: see text]
