Sumario:Humans have been fighting disease since the dawn of civilization and will probably do so till its end. Every century has had its medical revolution. But the last century was special: we started to uncover the most fundamental biological mechanisms designed to keeps us healthy every second of our lives. The discoveries of these mechanisms, collectively referred to as the immune system, have had an unprecedented positive impact on human health. Understanding the nature of infectious diseases, the discovery of antibiotics and vaccination campaigns have already saved hundreds of millions of lives. And this is just the beginning.
