Despite the initiation of favipiravir and high‐dose corticosteroid and ceftriaxone, his respiratory failure progressed and serum ferritin levels increased. After polymyxin B‐immobilized fibre column direct haemoperfusion (PMX‐DHP) therapy, there was improvement of the respiratory failure and hyperferritinaemia. We report the first case of COVID‐19‐induced hyperferritinaemia and severe respiratory failure successfully treated by PMX‐DHP.
