Sumario:This is a rare case of a 55 year-old immunocompetent female who developed Methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus sternoclavicular septic arthritis. The infection was not limited to the joint space but extended into adjacent bones and superior mediastinum. However the patient was successfully treated without surgical intervention and preservation of joint function was obtained with only intravenous antibiotic therapy.
