Sumario: | The giant flying squirrel Petaurista petauri is a large rodent studied by few researchers. Here, we sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of P. petauri. Similar to the typical vertebrate mitochondrial genome, the mtDNA of P. petauri also contained 37 genes (13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes) and a noncoding region (D-loop). We also analyzed the phylogenetic relationship of P. Petauri to 14 other closely related species using the Bayesian inference. This work will contribute to our understanding of this species’ evolution and conservation. |
