Sumario: | BACKGROUND: Digitalization is rapidly spreading in our daily lives, in medicine and especially in diabetology. Digitalization has changed the workflow and settings of specialized diabetes practices; however, the extent of changes and adaption varies greatly between physicians. In the implementation of digitalization in daily work, it is important to also take expectations and anxieties of practitioners into consideration. AIM: The goal is to evaluate the current status of digitization in outpatient diabetes clinics in Germany based on surveys and personal interviews. In addition to the question of the status of digitization in clinical practice, the question arises as to what factors are considered part of digitization in an outpatient diabetes clinic. Finally, possibilities for digitalization and its use in a diabetes clinic in 2030 will be pointed out. CONCLUSION: Digitalization changes the workflow and the possibilities for diabetes clinics. Due to the obvious advantages and the expectations of patients, digitization can no longer be stopped. On the way to digitization we have to take criticism seriously, to establish data and legal security, to minimize technical issues, and design software to be more intuitive and therefore easy to use. |
