Sumario:The worldwide spread of COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented disaster. The emergence of COVID-19-mediated cytokine storm is one of the most important contributors to the development of acute and severe illness in patients. At present, there is an urgent need for drugs that can inhibit cytokine storm to treat COVID-19. In the absence of specific drugs and vaccines, it is important to screen existing drugs as potential treatments. This article introduces a potential repositioning of the existing drug etoricoxib, which may inhibit cytokine storm to treat COVID-19 through reducing the activity of Cyclooxygenase-2 in the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin.
