description INTRODUCTION: The first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic lockdown has had a significant emotional and psychosocial impact on the French population. We study the particular impact felt by people with type 2 diabetics through their exchanges on social networks. METHOD: Netnography of perceptions and emotions related with diabetes, based on the grounded theory using a double-coding method, on messages published on two Facebook group between March 17 and May 31, 2020. RESULTS: Overall, 992 posts and 29,837 comments were collected. Two themes, divided into categories, emerged. “Living with diabete” was characterized by ease or by a mental load. “Situation assessment” was characterized by primary feeling, cognitive assessment, and planned actions or changes. DISCUSSION: Each theme was associated with contradictory perceptions and emotions. These results may be linked to the use of social networks.
