description The aim of this article is to present the decisions of the European Committee of Social Rights concerning collective complaints, lodged by University Women of Europe (UWE) against 15 European states, in which the issues of the gender pay gap and gender imbalance in decision-making positions within private companies were raised. The Committee assessed compliance with the right to equal pay and the right to equal opportunities in the workplace and clarified the requirements stemming from the European Social Charter in this respect.
