description Pediatric morbidity and mortality are on the rise in certain regions of the world specifically the low-income countries where no goals are being met in this regard. In comparison to the developed countries, the rate of decline in morbidity and mortality is dawdling. Disease trends show that there is a resurgence of diseases that are already major contributors to this healthcare crisis (big players like pneumonia, malaria, and meningitis), whereas no significant decrease is being noted in the others. Seasonal and cyclical trends along with other factors such as antibiotic resistance and deficient vaccination coverage in the low socioeconomic class (due to decreased availability or lack of awareness) can be counted as major precipitating factors and policies should be aimed towards rectification.
