Sumario: | Social distancing has been one of the hallmark strategies during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, to contain the spread of the disease. Around the world, people experienced confinement either at the beginning, during the second wave or while an outbreak is reported. With people working from home, children and teenagers taking online classes, the opportunity to see each other and interact more frequently arose. An assessment of the virus’s early spread in China, looking at outbreaks involving three or more cases, found that 80% of these clusters occurred in the home. The COVID-19 pandemic has uniquely affected children and families by disrupting routines, changing relationships and roles, and altering usual child care, school, and recreational activities, which creates an impact on the way families\ function with short- and long-term effects. |
