Sumario: | Since 2008, the national government has provided municipalities with financial support to employ community sport coaches, who motivate inhabitants to participate in sports and physical activity. This rapidly growing group of professionals connects various sectors and sports providers at the local level. Their work is strongly linked to health and prevention policy. Almost all municipalities employ community sport coaches (99% in 2021) and together they employ almost 3,500 FTEs (6,000 persons). Despite large differences in their goals and activities at the local level, their enthusiasm and decisiveness in efforts to achieve maximum results are unifying characteristics among community sport coaches. |
