description World health care systems are affected by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic and its associated disease, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This new human pathogen mostly affects the respiratory system, but various extrapulmonary pathologies have been reported in the literature. It seems that the gastrointestinal system is one of the target organs for SARS-CoV- 2. Diarrhea as a long-term bowel symptom is not rare, although its occurrence is not as high as that of fever and cough.
